Want To Be A Lifeguard?
Lifeguarding is a fulfilling job for anyone who wants to stay fit, help people, and the best part - staying nice and warm 365 days a year. It is a fun, exciting and rewarding job. It is also a job that carries enormous responsibilities, which is why lifeguards take extensive courses and train hard.
Lifeguards are more than just good swimmers; they are water rescue professionals trained in emergency care. They prevent accidents, identify hazards and determine safe water practices. They educate the public about the hazards and risks associated with aquatic activities and how to be safe.
You start out taking your Bronze Medallion, Standard First Aid & Bronze Cross awards. The industry standard is to have your National Lifeguard Service award before you start lifeguarding. But if you are interested in guarding and you have your Bronze Cross, feel free to drop a resume off and you may be able to start getting experience while you are waiting for the next NLS.
All our lifeguards guard public swimming and private rentals, as well as instructing swimming lessons and teaching leadership courses. Junior lifeguards start off learning the ropes until they gain enough experience to be a head lifeguard. Head lifeguards supervise each shift, deal with water chemistry, and related facility tasks.
Lifeguarding requires swimming skill, physical fitness, and a good deal of self confidence. Due to the layout and features our facility offers, wave generator, beach, waterslide, etc.; the Palace Pool turns out some of the best lifeguards in the province. Come join our team!
