2024 Capital Construction Projects

Southgate Servicing - Land Development | This project will include installing approximately 800m of sewer main, 500m of sanitary sewer force main and 800m of water main to service the lots in the Southgate Industrial area. 2024 Sidewalk Program | This project will primarily include replacing the sidewalk panels on the west side of the 500 Block of Main Street and the concrete curb on the east side of the 700 Block of Main Street. Small spot repairs on Priority Streets will also be completed as budget allows.

2024 Watermain Replacement Project | This project will include replacing approximately 400m of water main infrastructure on the 100 & 200 Blocks of Osborne Street. | Project is currently in the tender evaluation and contract award phase. | New Landfill Cell Construction | The decision to build a new engineered landfill cell comes after thorough research and analysis of the City’s waste management needs. With the current landfill reaching capacity and no longer meeting the Ministry of Environment's current standards, the need for a new facility has become increasingly urgent. The new engineered landfill will incorporate the required waste management technologies, including but not limited to engineered liners and leachate collection systems. By meeting these requirements, the City of Melfort is ensuring that its operations are safe, efficient, and environmentally sustainable. | This project is currently in the design and tendering phase. | Coming Soon! |
Landfill Decommissioning Project | The objective of this project is complete a progressive closure of the existing landfill cell over the next two years as the site reaches maximum capacity for waste. Our existing site needs to be decommissioned to prevent possible environmental harm and ensure proper waste management practices. | 2024 Urban Highway Connector Program (UHCP) - Sask Drive Rehabilitation | Through the Urban Highway Connector Program with the Ministry of Highways, this project will include resurfacing approximately 500m of roadway along SK Drive South. | This project is currently in the design and tender phase. | Coming Soon! |
| 2024 Community Airport Partnership (CAP) Program - Internal Taxiway Paving | Through this grant program offered through the Government of Saskatchewan in support of local airports, this project will include paving the gravel taxiways surrounding the hangers at the Miller Field Airport. | This project is currently in the design and tender phase. | Coming Soon! |
